This is a very easy to clean and maintain spreader for glue, and I love the fact it eliminates the need to throw away and start over with a fresh spreader every so often due to glue build up. With this silicone tip glue comes right off and is easy to clean. I do kinda wish the silicone was a bit stiffer as I find myself having to grab the silicone to give it some extra rigidity when spreading glue which makes it difficult to keep glue off my fingers. The whole point of using the spreader rather than the brush that comes with the glue is that Barge glue really spreads a very long way and doing so you can make a third as much glue cover the work piece as you would be able to with the brush. Spreading the glue as thinly as possible also effectively eliminates any necessary dry time between applying the glue and sticking the two glued surfaces together. The hold is just as strong with spread thin glue as with more glue, perhaps stronger even and it eliminates puddling which helps prevent lumps and uneven surfaces after gluing. This spreader will spread well enough, but if it were more rigid it would spread even further. A plastic card like a credit card spreads really really well, but you'll end up having to go through several of them because they're a bit more difficult to keep clean and you really need the edge clean to make the best use of it so you can spread the glue evenly and to the thinnest layer possible with as much control as possible so as not to get glue where you don't want it. If this spreader with its silicone tip was as rigid as a credit card it'd be perfect. Still, it's worth the price just to not have to toss it out after a few uses due to glue build up.
