The Ferry Wallets

This leather wallet pattern is a printable PDF for three compact DIY leathercraft projects: The Ferry Wallets. Designed for a front pocket carry, this bifold wallet template uses a folding technique to create card and cash pockets without extra stitching along the folding. The result is a minimalist, space-saving design that is perfect for leatherworking beginners and experienced crafters alike. This digital download includes a pattern for three versions: Ro-Ro Ferry, Cargo Ferry, and Docking Ferry, with options for bills up to 100 euro. Because there is no stitch on that folded side the wallet size can drop down to 10cm without losing any capacity.

The PDF pattern includes three distinct bifold wallet versions:

* The Ro-Ro Ferry: A minimalist wallet pattern with an open cash compartment for unfolded bills (up to 100 Euro).

* The Cargo Ferry: A classic wallet template with four card pockets and a more traditional stitched design, perfect for folded bills.

* The Docking Ferry: A slim card holder pattern that combines the best of both designs, offering a quick-access cash tuck on one side and two card pockets on the other.

(Note: USD bills can be carried folded in all versions. The pattern also includes an optional 3mm trim allowance.)

Eco-Friendly Leathercraft

I've designed these patterns with sustainability in mind to help you reduce leather waste. The "Left Base" and "Right Pocket" pieces are arranged to fit snugly around the main "Body" pattern, ensuring no irregular shapes or wasted material. This zero-waste pattern design is part of my commitment to responsible crafting. I recommend using the same leather for all pieces to maximize this feature.

THE FERRY WALLETS

Dimensions: 10 by 8 cm (~4 by 3 inches)

Capacity: up to 8 cards and folded or unfolded cash.

USD bills must be folded.

Skill level: Beginner

Leather: 1.4-1.5mm thickness (3.5 oz), medium to soft temper

Pattern specific tools/materials: 7mm or 8mm hole punch can be useful for some of the curves but it is not required.

Basic Instructions

Print pattern at 100% scale and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.

Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.

The stitching holes in the patterns are 4mm from the edge and spaced at 4mm.
