The Wanderer Notebook Cover

The Wanderer is a PDF leather pattern to create a three different size notebook covers that fits two A5, A6 or PA6 size notebooks respectively. This is a beginner skill level leather template that is a stitch-less pattern and features a pen holder again made out of leather.

The Wanderer Notebook Cover is what is known as Midori style notebook and is a simple leather cover with an elastic band that holds the notebooks inside and that keeps the cover closed. No stitching or gluing is required and the notebooks are replaced in a matter of seconds. Simplicity is in focus in this everlasting design with the option to also make a pen holder weaved into the elastic band. You can also offer only the cover to your customers without the pen holder which makes the build even quicker. Combining the leather used and the elastic band color would be key in this build in my opinion, but I have also seen creatively tooled and stamped covers that elevate the design to the next level.

THE WANDERER NOTEBOOK COVER

Skill level: Beginner

Dimensions:

> PA6 Cover: 16/12cm (~6.3/4.7 inches)

> A6 Cover: 17/12cm (~6.7/4.7 inches)

> A5 Cover: 23/16cm (~9/6.3 inches)

Leather:

> 1.8-2.2mm thickness (4.5-5.5oz), medium to stiff temper for the cover

> 1.6-1.8mm thickness (3.5-4oz), medium to stiff temper for the pen holder

Pattern specific tools/materials:

> 1mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm hole punches

> For the A6 and PA6 Covers: 100cm (~40 inches) of round 2-3mm thick elastic band (1/16 - 3/32 inches diameter)

> For the A5 Cover: 140cm (~55 inches) of round 2-3mm thick elastic band (1/16 - 3/32 inches diameter)

Note: some of the elastic band length will be excess that we will cut off at the end

Basic Instructions

> Print pattern at 100% scale and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.

> Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.

> Review the Assembly Instructions PDF in full before commencing with the build.
