The Siren Bag

This is a PDF printable pattern to create a leather bag - The Siren Bag. The Siren is designed for on-shoulder, under the arm carry (aka Short Shoulder) hence the fixed strap as a primary option for the bag. Crook-of-arm and handheld carry will work well too. An adjustable strap pattern is also included in case you opt for cross-body carry. The bag packs a ton of everyday essentials and is fully approved as 'fashionable' by my teenage daughter who swept the first one I crafted.

One of my goals with the Siren Bag design was to be able to use 2mm leather throughout without the need to skive anything unless one wanted to.

The second important goal was to be able to fit all the pattern pieces (including the 10-12 inches fixed strap) onto a standard 2 square feet leather panel that is 12 by 24 inches (or 60 by 30 cm). You buy 2 square feet of leather and you can make the bag! There was a bit of room to spare so to maximize the leather utilization I have added a little bonus pattern - The Dory keychain. It fits nicely into the layout and it would compliment perfectly the Siren bag that you craft for your customers.

THE SIREN BAG

Bag dimensions: 21.5/13.5/7.5 cm ~ 8.5/5/3 inches

Skill level: Advanced

Leather: 2mm thickness (5oz), medium temper

> You will need a 60/30cm (~24/12in) leather panel for the bag including the fixed shoulder strap. This is 2 square feet of leather.

Pattern specific tools/materials:

> 1 x 25cm long #3 or #5 zipper

> 2 x 20mm D-rings

> 2 x 20mm swivel hooks

> a 13mm hole punch is optional (hand cutting will work too for the zipper cutout)

Alternative strap options:

Fixed shoulder strap with Chicago screws instead of stitching. You will need 4 Chicago screws with post height 6mm and post diameter 4mm, and a 4mm hole punch.

Adjustable strap for crossbody carry

> Leather: 2.0-2.2mm thickness (5-5.5oz). The strap is 20mm wide and you need two pieces – one 48cm (~19in) long and one 90cm (~35in) long. You can use the same leather as for the bag.

> 2 x button studs (7mm or 8mm cap diameter)

> 1mm, 3mm and 5mm hole punches

Basic Instructions

> Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.

> Stitching holes in the pattern are spaced at 4mm, however due to curves and irregular shapes might differ slightly at some spots.

> Please read through the Assembly Instructions file before commencing the build.
